Meet Saint Nicky, Monster Hunter
The past few weeks have definitely been December. We got pelted with snow squall after snow squall, my car got a bit banged up (hello new brakes), and I wiped out on ice more than once 🥲
At least I have the Christmas markets and warm drinks.
I’d like to thank everyone who voted in my poll last time. While it was a small sample, everyone who did vote said they would like to see a serial about Angelo from Barrier Witch as an exorcist’s apprentice. It’s definitely not going to be my main project. That honour still goes to Heavy Metal Hunters, but I might start penning it as my procrastination/in line for coffee project. I’m very excited about some of the characters and ideas I had for it, and it’ll be a nice segue back into the Barrier Witch universe.
In the meantime, I’m making some really solid progress on Hunters. I’m coming up to the end of the series, which is awesome because I’m finally getting to the scenes that I’ve been really looking forward to. I really appreciate your patience.
And since it’s almost Christmas, I thought I’d throw back to my other Christmas story.
Saint Nicky, Monster Hunter
Nicky Stevens is a political analyst by day and vampire hunter by night. She comes from a family of hunters, with her parents training her and her sisters as they grew up. Recently, she moved to the small town of Abundance Falls with her black cat, Nebula.
Nicky’s absolutely favourite thing in the world is Christmas. She loves the lights, buying presents for people, and snow. Sure, the shorter days mean more vampires, but also, sweater weather.
Nicky’s origin is a fun one for me. Back when I first moved back to my hometown, my parents’ car had broken down and I was their chauffeur since their work was on the way to mine. One day, an exceptionally skilled cover designer posted a premade cover on Facebook while I was in the parking lot of my parents’ parking lot, waiting for my mother from whom I inherited my short stature and chronic lateness. I was chatting with NJ Ember, going back and forth for several minutes of, “No, you have to write it!” “No, YOU have to write it!” before we decided, fuck it we’ll write it together.
And then we did.
Saint Nicky, Demon Hunter was originally available exclusively in the Rebels & Realms box set, but you can now read her for 0.99$ or free in KindleUnlimited.
