Did you have a chance to read the vampire short stories I gave you a couple weeks ago?
No worries if you haven’t because you can also find them back of the Heavy Metal Blood collection out now!
A few years ago, I had a thought that a black metal band would be a great cover for a group of vampires. After all, a lot of metal bands have fantasy stage personas. Warkings are dead warriors returned to earth. Babymetal are fox spirits.
The Furies are witches.
Bloody Morningstar are vampires.
And then I ran with it. At first, they were just side characters who appeared every now and then in Heavy Metal Magic. Then, I got accepted into two separate vampire anthologies and I decided to explore some of the ones I’d already created. Then I figured I’d do the other two. And then I decided to write a bunch of short stories. And now my good friend NJ periodically gets messages about things I want to write for them. Patreon supporters have already got a few.
In my defence, vampires are so much fun. There’s just so much potential! And I kind of love the idea of these four walnuts who barely tolerate each other stuck on a tour bus together.
Who wouldn’t?
The whole collection, including A Rhapsody of Rapiers, A Waltz of Witchcraft, A Beat of Honour, A Verse of Vengeance, and those five bonus stories, is now available for 2.99$ (basically getting one for free) and totally free in KindleUnlimited.
All is fair in blood and war.
An Algerian corsair, betrayed by the man who hired his family to fight the Spanish during the Anglo-Spanish war. A Romantic-era violinist and ballet dancer, abandoned in a foreign country and struggling to survive, awaking in ashes and consumed with bloodlust. A samurai seeking to destroy a man with a more violent agenda than his own. An unwilling sniper embracing being a monster when his partner is killed.
Four stories of blood, love, and vengeance tell the origin stories of heavy metal’s most famous vampire musicians.
I’m completely obsessed with these guys, and fully intend to keep writing about them. From the last few polls, you guys really wanted more Tetsuro and Jean-Étienne, which I fully intend to deliver on. I hope you enjoy their stories, because there’s definitely more to come.
